the days progress in fits and jumps,
in starts and stalls,
winding out before me like some immeasurable clockwork sprung
until
bowing my head earthward
i cry out “Hold! Enough!”
no longer do i know the day,
nor the hour of the day,
what distance traveled
or time left yet unfurled
